In this space, we will regularly be writing about topics pertinent to dementia care, while focusing on articles, books, or online publications that have caught our attention. It is important to note that any criticism of an author’s ideology or technique will come with a great deal of respect. As we analyze and dissect proposed interventions, we do so with full acknowledgement that any dialogue concerning dementia care intervention is helpful. These scholars and professionals are being brave by offering their insight, so we mean no harm when we explore what might go right or wrong in these situations. Furthermore, we will only refer to literature that we have found helpful, and may at times simply praise the author. At other times, we might respectfully (and maybe even playfully!) criticize what we read. This blog and podcast were created with the goal of normalizing the awkward stories that isolate families impacted by dementia. We want everyone to share their successes and failures. This is why we will be discussing suggestions made by accomplished, well-respected dementia care experts. When we do offer criticism, we are likely doing so only because each individual responds differently to particular interventions on a particular day. That which works today may fail tomorrow. This is why we must explore as many options as possible, and offer reasons why they may or may not work. Thank you for joining us as we analyze dementia care interventions.
